Description

Taken from the Bald Hill Opal Fields 28.11.13. 9:53pm EDST.

Boy, it's certainly been a while!
We had a partial, and small storm front pushing through last night -the result of a weak trough crossing the state after a warm day of 38.7˚C and low humidity. I figured I would head for a shot or two even though it was very distant (around 60klms away here). Still very warm winds blowing at 9pm EDST and I still had a reading of 31˚C when I returned home at 10:30pm EDST.

Venus was very prominent in the sky to the west and it even appears that some partial air glow was apparent out there too. There were three active cells at this stage. One in the centre (under Venus), one to the right of shot and the third sitting out behind the town lower left. These were not very active and soon dissipated into small cloud bursts and moved overhead and away to the East.

As we are in a severe drought currently the storms just have no moisture to drive them as yet. We had some light falls this morning (29th) which made a nice change. We've had just on 40mm since last December.

Nice to see a storm, even a weak one for a change and to dust off the camera ready for something more substantial throughout December and January. The bulk of our weather has been confined to the Eastern coast of Aus. so far.

Good to be back at it and I'm looking forward to bringing you something nice again this storm season.

I hope everyone has been doing very well as we closely approach another year.
