Subtle Persuasion by Syndyne Subtle Persuasion by Syndyne
Taken from the Bald Hill opal field, Lightning Ridge, N.S.W. 28.12.12. at 8:17pm EDST

Very nice to see something salvaged from the weak storm forecast at days end. Getting to spend time with my lifelong friend and fellow weather photography enthusiast Jason Brewster [link] was great and to have a spectacular display like this while he was up for the Christmas/New Years break was pretty cool. The lightning got fairly active after this.

No false colour edit here. This is pretty much spot on. It was an extremely intense glow. One of those rare occasions where everything times just perfect. It was raining steadily from a scud overhead, but nothing too bad. I certainly didn't let it stop me shooting the unreal scene that would soon unfold before us.

Canon 5D MkIII

Canon 16-35mm f2.8L II USM Lens

Superb image, and especially the notes on the capture. Great to see the openness about the work. Sets a great example.

Thanks kindly Paul.

I like to try and give a little background info when possible. I can only hope the images can convey the emotions I get from being out there in the weather. :)

Cheers

Cheers Doug! :highfive:

It was really something else standing out there. Displays like this make photography so much easier and very enjoyable.

Hope all is well, sir.
