Taken from the Bald Hill opal field, Lightning Ridge, N.S.W. 28.12.12. at 8:22pm EDST

Moving into the last few minutes of this stunning colour display now. It went grey pretty fast after this but did have a strange brief recurrence of colour later on. Several active storm cells visible here. They were about 60k's out to the North of town here. The most distant storms we could see were way up over the border near St. George in QLD. That means we were soon photographing lightning that was well over 200k's (124Miles) away.

EXIF:
Canon 5D MkIII
1/30 seconds
ISO200
f/3.5
Canon 16-35mm f2.8L II USM Lens
16mm @ Infinity Focus

Nature was definitely at her best here. I just pointed the camera and took the shots

Thanks for the kind words

Nature may have been at her best, but nobody would guess it if I were the one taking the pictures...takes a good photographer to capture nature so the rest of us can enjoy it, too.

Well I'm glad I can share what I see out here :D

If there's ever anything great happening I'll be there, camera in hand.
